# Warnings and Error Messages

At times you will get indications that there is a problem with the information that was entered or received. There are two types of messages: **Warnings**and **Errors**.

**Warnings**are alerts that some rule has been violated, but the user can continue at their discretion.

**Errors**are alerts that the violated rule MUST be addressed and corrected before the record can be saved. 

This example shows the result of an error check when entering new patient data.
